Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, is located on the northwest coast of Java, the world’s most populous island. As the country’s political and economic hub, its metropolitan area houses over 30 million people. Historically known as Sunda Kelapa, it became Batavia under Dutch rule in the 16th century and was renamed Jakarta after Indonesia’s independence in 1945. Today, Tanjung Priok is Indonesia’s largest and busiest port, handling over 50% of its international trade. Steinweg has been operational here since the beginning of 2025.
