Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and organized Quality Controller / Inspector to oversee the detailed quality and accuracy of both inbound (imports) and outbound (exports) cargo. This role is crucial for verifying that FQM’s shipments meet the specified requirements and are in line with our procurement and sales agreements. The position will involve close communication with the various FQM procurement teams, corporate contacts, and global and regional suppliers, to ensure seamless operations.
Key Job Functions:
Cargo Inspection and Verification
- Conduct thorough inspections of inbound and outbound cargo to ensure that shipments align with purchase orders and contractual agreements.
- Verify quantities, quality, and compliance with precise specifications, to ensure that the company receives the cargo/equipment as detailed on the respective purchase order/s and/or contractual agreement/s.
Communication & Co-ordination
- Liaise effectively with the various procurement teams at site/s and corporate levels to address any discrepancies or issues related to the cargo.
- Communicate with suppliers as necessary to resolve any problems or inconsistencies in shipments.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and communications with the procurement teams and numerous suppliers.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on the status of inbound / outbound cargo and any issues encountered.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and recommend improvements in processes and procedures to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cargo inspections.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to implement best practices and resolve recurring issues.
Requirements
Education
- Matric or equivalent thereof
Skills
- Proven experience in quality control, inspection, or a similar role within logistics and supply chain management.
- Strong understanding of cargo inspection processes and quality assurance principles.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with procurement teams, suppliers, and corporate contacts.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for record-keeping and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong technical and product knowledge within the mining industry.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Walvis Bay corridor or a related regional environment.
- Familiarity with logistics and supply chain practices specific to the mining or minerals sector.
